PEOPLE PERCEIVE ME TO BE SEXY: POONAM PANDEY

Poonam Pandey is a name that’s very popular as an internet s e n s a t i o n a l star known for sharing controversial videos. Last seen in Lockupp the actress in an exclusive conversation with Ashish Tiwari of First India News opened up on her journey, modelling days and more. Hailing from Mumbai, Poonam emerges from a very lower middle-class family into the internet sensation that she is today, speaking on the same she says, “Fortunately I was born in a conservative family, but today my family, my friends and my fans are happy about the way I am. I always wanted to be in Bollywood and today fortunately I am doing good. I loved Kajol and always wanted to be like her.” Adding on how her Journey has been she said, “I have been working since a very early age, and I don’t regret anything about the journey. I have done everything from tailoring to teaching and ended up in modelling. I don’t call the phase a struggle it's a passion." Widely known for her World Cup Controversy Poonam revealed the real reason behind doing it, “World cup was a controversy, so as I don’t hide out to speak the truth, it was a planned controversy. At that time I wanted fame and wanted more work. I had the hunger to work, I am not from this industry so I had to carve my way out. I saw the fame and success because of it but also lost out on many relationships.”

Speaking about how her associates reacted she said, “My parents were in shock after the news broke, I was even thrown out of the house. But my family understood that I was born to achieve something in life.” Another controversy that put her to fame was of the deity speaking on which she said, “ That was fake, I can never disrespect the deity, I am too religious like that. It's not right. I am very spiritual as a person. I don’t show that side of me on camera. I am happy that people perceive me to be sexy but that’s for my work and camera. Because this is an entertainment industry. And it's completely different from my personal life. I am thankful to the universe for my talent." Poonam’s last successful stint was in lockupp speaking on it she said, “ I am grateful to Lockupp, they gave me an opportunity to be a part of the show and showed the real Poonam to the world. Seeing me in front of the camera 24x7 changed their perception of me. Kangana Ranaut is one of the boldest ladies of Bollywood, I was touched and happy that the dhakkad person of Bollywood loved me.” Speaking about how people perceive her as and how she handled her abusive marriage and divorce she said, “The people who know me will never hear bad about me, sometimes I feel bad about the fact that people can’t understand me. My marriage was a shock to me as well and I have walked through it and today I am stronger and happier. The saddest part about that phase was people even thought that to be a controversy. Trolling culture has become a part of our lives now, I don’t mind people trolling me but sometimes I do feel bad about the lies they write.” Post her divorce the actress is doing well in her life on asked about how she manages to go further she said, “I do feel bad about the lonely and low phase in my life. But only you can cheer yourself up. I am just happy with myself and my dog pitbull. They won’t hurt me by any chance. But ya, if you don’t see sadness you won’t realise the worth of happiness.”
