NaMo: NO EGO, JUST PURE HUMILITY...

PM MODI – A LEADER SANS ARROGANCE - Anupriya Patel Union Minister

Anupriya Patel narrates an incident about PM Modi’s humble stance despite being a world leader. It is a short and heartwarming anecdote that brings us closer to the man India loves.

Honourable Prime Minister was on a visit to his parliamentary constituency and this incident relates to a village, the name of the village I, unfortunately, don’t remember. Our PM was to address a gathering there and an event had been organised in the village. Gram Pradhan, who was a lady and of slightly short stature, was also present for the event and she had to deliver a speech. The podium and the mic had been set up on the stage and when the Pradhan reached the stage for her speech, she realised that the mic was higher than she could reach. As she was struggling to speak into the mic, a memorable incident happened that touched me to the core. Even today I can visualise our PM getting up from his seat and moving towards the stage. Without waiting for anyone else to come forward to help the Pradhan, he went straight up to her and fixed the mic for her. Once the mic had been adjusted, she could easily deliver her speech.

While the incident in itself reads short and simple, it still had the capacity to leave a lasting impression on minds of onlookers because one can never erase memory of a world leader doing a deed of kindness.

PM - A FRIEND, PHILOSOPHER AND GUIDE - Neeraj Chopra Olympic Champion

Neeraj Chopra recollects the time when he returned from Olympics after winning the gold for the country and the unforgettable meeting the athletes had with PM Modi.

Upon our return from the Olympics, we were hosted by PM Modi at his residence. One can always feel butterflies in the stomach when the country’s Prime Minister invites you over. Interaction with PM Modi was not just a great honour for us, but it was extremely comforting too. He made every single person present there feel at ease and was an epitome of cordiality as we interacted with him. What is so admirable about PM Modi is the connect he establishes with people at a personal level. He possessed detailed knowledge of all the athletes and even remembered what each of us said before we left for the Olympics.

He spoke with us like close friends do and who probably know everything about us. This was indeed very remarkable and heartwarming. Maintaining such a pleasant, easy-going and a naturally interactive style is possible only when the person has knowledge, compassion, love for his countrymen and is a truly great leader. Although he is the PM, yet it was a friend we came across that day during our meeting with him.

Indian sports had undergone several changes for the good after PM Modi took over. For instance, the initiative of Khelo India which has proven to be a wonderful scheme for aspiring, young sports enthusiasts to come out and play. Not just this, every time athletes leaves the country for a sporting event, they are shown a lot of support, and are inspired so that they are filled with motivation and josh to the brim. PM Modi even inspires the citizens to cheer for us and support us throughout the event.

Tokyo Olympics were definitely very different and the atmosphere was quite joyous as our country had bagged the first gold ever in athletics. But after we got back to our country, all the athletes were given equal respect irrespective of whether they had won the medal or not. PM Modi met every one regardless of whether they had won something or not, and this was indeed very heartening.

MODIJI NEVER GETS TIRED OF WORKING 24/7 - Gauri Kumar Former IAS Officer

In a speech on Civil Services Day, PM Modi said something that won over the hearts of the wives of India’s Civil Services officers. Gauri Kumar brings to us an anecdote that made PM Modi the star of the day!

Creating a work-life balance is definitely one of the biggest challenges faced by people these days and more so in the civil services. PM Modi, who is known to be a workaholic and who never tires of working 24 x 7, in his address to the civil servants on April 21, that is Civil Services Day, posed an extremely penetrating question. He asked “When you go home from work, do you take time out to talk to your wives? Do you ask your partner and children how they have been doing?”

That same day, in the evening, there was the At Home ceremony to be held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan and let me tell you, all the wives of civil servants were literally on cloud nine at the event. They were elated that their spouses had been asked by PM Modi to spend time with their wives and take time out for families. PM Modi had laid special emphasis in his speech on the importance of quality family time. And this indeed was the talk of the town in the evening that day. While we all know that striking a work-life balance is necessary, but when it comes from PM Modi, it makes all the difference! TO BE CONTINUED…
