Danveer Singh Bhati on a mission to improve poor condition of Sadul Sports School

Sadul Sports School, the only sports school in Bikaner of Rajasthan has been in a dilapidated condition for years. The students are currently facing huge turmoil ranging from barren fields to no clean drinking water.

Danveer Singh, former captain of Rajasthan Basketball Team has been fighting for basic facilities of schools for almost three years now.

The RTI filed by Danveer revealed some serious conditions in the school and its functioning. As per the documents, the school focuses on 12 sports and about 244 students can be admitted in the school. As per the Education Department of the school, the trainer and physical teachers must have a 1 year Diploma in sports and coaching (NIS-National Institute of Sports).

But at least five sports; Cricket, Hockey, Kho Kho, Volleyball, and Kushtee have teachers and coaches without an NIS diploma. At the same time, many coaches and trainers appointed on particular sports haven't ever played that sports.

As per the reports, the kit allowance given to players have been static at Rs 1,000 since 1982. With this allowance, players are expected to purchase a blazer, two school dresses, track suit, and sports kit. But since players fall short on the money, they are not even able to buy a good quality track suit and sports kit.

At the same time, the dispensary of the residential sports school has been shut down for years now. The sanitation, drinking water, hostel and mess facilities are also being compromised for decades in the school.

“Even after raising the issue to Education Minister, Director of Education, Collector and MLAs again and again, minimal has changed in the school but a lot of improvements are needed”, said Danveer Singh
