I tend to dismiss my own identity on screen : Ashutosh

Disney Hotstar released its new family drama, an epic tale of power and revenge, 'Karm Yuddh' based in the city of Kolkata. The family drama revolves around the power-hungry lives of the Roys, who have dominated the economic horizon of the city for decades. It captures the quest for control over the flourishing Roy Group of Industries. Ashutosh Rana who depicts the grey character of Guru Shahstri exclusively spoke to Ashish Tiwari of First India News. Speaking on what is the depiction means of Karam Yudh he said, “We have learnt about Dharam Yudh from Mahabharat but in today’s time we see Karam Yudh. Mahabharat was a family war for the throne. So even Karam Yudh is a war within the family where everyone tries to hold on to their rights on the throne. Satish Kaushik is playing Bhishma and Paoli is playing Guru Shastri. For us, Karam Yudh is playing true to the character that comes upon us” Explaining his character he mentioned, “Gurushashtri is a man of action and in real life, you are very similar to it, “Guru Shastri is the mastermind behind all the actions and reactions in the story. He’s the director of the story. He is someone with mental stability who works according to the situation”

He further added, “I have always lived an independent life from choosing my name to the kind of roles I do, I believe in being independent and I am grateful that whatever character I am offered is always similar to what I need to portray on screen. It becomes easy for me as an artist. I believe in dissemination of my own identity to play a particular character on screen." On asking how his role is so impactful on screen, he replied "I believe in the truth of the moment, life is in being present. The past is about guilt while the future is about worries. So as I am at that side of the life where I believe in present and because of this my characters leave a mark on the audience” He further added, “I have been blessed to have my guru, because of him I have managed to mark a successful stint in the Industry. He allowed me to face all the obstacles that have come in my way all through my life” Speaking on taking up selective roles he shared, “I and my wife Renuka have not been a part of any race, whatever we do is because of our self and our own happiness” Having played some exceptional characterdriven roles Ashutosh Rana has managed to always impress us with his movies.
