"I Have Brought Homosexuality To Dining Table Discussions," claims Karan Johar; He Has Also Received Emails And Letters From Gay Boys And Girls Thanking Him

One of Bollywood's most gifted filmmakers, Karan Johar has been enthralling audiences for more than a decade. KJo is frequently scrutinised by internet users due to his sexual orientation, which has long been a hotly debated subject. In his book, An Unsuitable Boy, Karan has openly discussed his life and experience while accepting his sexuality without reservation. The director also said he was pleased to have brought up homosexuality over dinner conversation.

Regarding homosexuality, Karan disclosed that he has gotten tens of thousands of emails and messages from gay boys and girls praising him for creating a movie like Dostana. His quote reads, “People say that I make fun of and stereotype homosexuals. But I say, no, I’ve brought homosexuality to dining table discussions. I’ve received over a thousand emails and letters from gay boys and girls thanking me for making Dostana because, they said, now at least people know what the concept is. I also made Bombay Talkies which dealt with gay married men who are actually hiding and repressing themselves, owing to social and parental pressures.” He added, “I’ve not made fun of homosexuality; I’ve addressed it with humour, but all for a reason.”

Meanwhile, Karan Johar is returning to direction after 7 years with the upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani which stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The romantic drama will feature veteran stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi in supporting roles. The film is slated to release on July 28, 2023. His last directorial was Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which was released in 2016.
