HARIYALI TEEJ A WAY TO EXPRESS LOVE

Hariyali Teej is one of the three most important Teej festivals which was celebrated on Sunday in the city. This day is considered to be the day of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parwati. According to the Hindu calendar, it is celebrated on the third day of Shukla Paksha every year. The month of Sawan is also known as the month of love. The greenery scattered in nature shows its love for the land, that is, the earth. The festival of Hariyali Teej falling in this month is a day for women to express love and fast for the longevity of their husband. It is said that Mata Parvati did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Hariyali Teej is also known as Shravani Teej, Choti Teej, and Madhusarva Teej. This fast is considered as important as Karwa Chauth is observed by married women. This festival is mainly celebrated in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. In Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, the name of this festival is Gawri Habba. Women observe a fast for their husbands by dressing up like a bride also known as 16 shringar, then offer Ardhya to the moon by worshipping in the evening and then break their fast by drinking water at the hands of the husband. On the occasion, women dress up in beautiful Lehariya outfits. For the people associated with Rajasthan or Rajasthani culture, Lehariya is not just a design or style engraved on the cloth.
