Follow your Dreams for Success

All parents, from ages ago and till date, share a common dreamfor their child/ children to be successful and happy. We all want that golden mantra which can ensure this. City First caught up with Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, New Delhi Jagdish Babu and his wife Sudha Rani Malempati, parents to Anurag and Amit, two sons who have chosen totally opposite careers- Anurag is an entrepreneur and Amit just cracked the UPSC with AIR 70, to start his career as an IAS officer. Two brothers, with the same upbringing who have chosen two diametrically opposite paths to serve the nation. Anurag (An MBA from the London Business School) is the Founder and CEO of Leap India Food and Logistics Limited which is into developing and operating food grain storage & logistics. Leap India has raised multiple rounds of funding from various sovereign funds and was in the news recently for the fat funding it has raised from the British International Investment, the UK Govt’s development finance institution.

Amit chose his father’s path of civil service to serve the nation after his B-Tech from IIT Kanpur. Sudha Rani shared with us that the one thing they were clear about as parents was to allow both of them to celebrate their dreams and follow whatever field they chose. “We never gave them any benchmark but guided them to excel and ensured a valuebased home environment by example. Jagdish was in a transferable job and the boys had to change schools often but that actually added to their self-confidence and adaptability,” Sudha added.

She remembers that initially they had wanted Amit to become a doctor but when he said he would rather follow in his father’s footsteps, they supported him totally. When asked by City First, that what is her guidance for the parents of today, Sudha said that it is simple actually. They should listen to their children, allow them to follow their passions, success will follow.

She added that they are proud that both their sons, though with identical heritage, upbringing and family background and values, have chosen two opposite paths which converge in the same goal- development of the nation.
