ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF APICON DAY 2

The 77th Annual Conference of The Association of Physicians of India day 2 witnessed discussions on various diseases and their causes and diagnosis during different sessions at JECC on Friday.

During the program, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot presented the Royal College of Physicians Glasgow Award to Dr Puneet Saxena and apart from this, Dr K.K. Pareek and Dr Murganathan of Coimbatore were honoured with the Dr Jivraj Mehta Award for the year 2021 and Dr Sudhir Bhandari with the Distinguished Award for work in the medical fraternity.

Organizing Chairman, Dr K.K. Pareek and Organizing Secretary Dr Puneet Saxena informed that in one of the sessions in the conference a discussion was held liver, how the liver can be kept healthy and how it is diagnosed and treated. Sharing the thoughts on the topic ‘Heart of Liver’, Dr Shiv Sarin, Senior Professor and Head of Department of Hepatology, JNLU said that due to unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the country, men and women are complaining of fatty liver. Fatty liver is a very common liver disease and is estimated to affect about 30 per cent of Indians.

It is recommended to have a no-fatty diet, avoid being overweight and not eat an unbalanced diet. According to a study, a man who has a waist circumference of 90 cm and a woman’s waist circumference of 80 cm can avoid this disease.

Many other knowledgeable sessions were held including Lifestyle changes necessary to avoid hypertension, Immunity and the role of Vitamin C, Status of diabetes care in India and Cholesterol and your body. Dr Sudhir Bhandari, Dr Ashok Seth, Dr Rajesh Upadhyay, Dr Shashank Joshi, Dr Narayan Reddy, Dr Abhishek Agarwal, Dr S. S. Daria, Dr Arvind Palawat, Dr Suresh Yadav and other prominent doctors were present during the program.
