VANQUISHING THE REEL LIFE!

Aisha Gupta, a 20-year-old aspiring actor and a journalism student shares her inspiring journey with City First.

Tell us something about yourself
I am a simple girl and I believe that an actor has is their blind faith that they are who they say they are today, in any scene. Ever since I came to know that something like acting exists, one can become an actor I wanted to be the same.

Where do you see yourself after the next 20 years?
I envision myself cheerfully training aspiring artists all over the world, assisting them in honing their acting while also teaching them the morals that my last 11 years in the corporate world taught me. Nothing above ethics! I would like to do something great in the field of acting.

How did your journey begin?
Haven't done anything major but have done a few theatre plays and short films, also studied acting to understand it better. Have done diploma in Acting from the Gulshan Kumar Film and Television Institute of India. My style is minimalist, but I promise my work speaks exuberance.

What were some of the battles you fought and are still fighting in your journey?
It's difficult to switch careers after more than a decade. Every field includes battles, though. The obstacles persist regardless of where your career is in its development or where you are in it; we just find more effective strategies to overcome them. Though my parents are very supportive of it they get to hear a lot of negative from my other relatives and people nearby but they ignore them and support me anyways. I am having a very rough journey cause the people nearby me and their negative words demotivate me a lot. Like people say that I can't become an actor and should drop the idea of being one because I have Dusky skin and am not skinny.

Talk to us about your achievements?
I’m yet to achieve a lot, however, I have done many plays with Black Pearl Arts and also at TSeries Stageworks. Worked in short films and have done a lot of backstage work for theatre and tv serials.
