Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti bypolls to be held on May 7

Jaipur: The State Election Commission is conducting by-polls in April-May 2023 for the vacancies arising due to various reasons until January 31, 2023, in the Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state. State Election Commissioner Madhukar Gupta said that the by-elections are under process for four Zilla Parishad members in four districts and 24 Panchayat Samiti members in 13 districts. He said that the voting for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be held on May 7.

Gupta said that the nomination papers for Zilla Parishad members were received till April 25 and the date of withdrawal of nominations was fixed for April 27. He said 16 candidates submitted 18 nomination papers for four Zilla Parishad members, out of which one nomination paper was withdrawn and seven nomination papers were cancelled by the returning officer.
