With many Raj babus waiting for empanelment to Secy and Addl Secy level, several not to get berth!

Jaipur: The share and status of IAS officers of the Rajasthan cadre in the central government are increasing.

In the last 2 months, 7 of the officers have got promotion and important responsibilities on the posts of Secretary and Additional Secretary.

These officers include Rohit Kumar Singh, V Srinivas, Rajat Kumar Mishra, Sanjay Malhotra, Tanmay Kumar, Naresh Pal Gangwar and Rajeev Singh Thakur.

Now the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet is preparing for the appointment of Joint Secretary. From Rajasthan, Praveen Gupta, Ajitabh Sharma, Rajesh Yadav and Subir Kumar are under consideration for the appointment at Joint Secretary level.

Experts in the administrative system of the Centre believe that at present, the chances of 4 officers from Rajasthan getting joint secretary posting together are less. A maximum of two officers can get a chance at the moment.

The file of 1 of the 4 officers is pending for one and a half years; “His Excellency” is lobbying for the second officer while the third officer is close to an influential politician of Rajasthan in Delhi (presently holding a constitutional assignment) while the fourth official is confident of his merit.

On the other hand, the case of a 5th officer is pending separately. Despite being empaneled for Joint Secretary, he has to get a post equivalent to Additional Secretary. Two union ministers are trying to help this officer.

Talks are making rounds that this senior officer, who is holding the responsibility of a big post in the state government, may go to Delhi or he may be called to Delhi. It remains to be seen which officers’ lottery opens for Delhi.
