WITH 9 NEW JUDGES, NUMBER INCREASES TO 35 IN RAJ HC

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court got 9 new judges on Friday after the Centre issued a notification in this regard. Of these, three are from the advocate quota and six from the judicial officer quota.

Those becoming judges from advocate quota include AAG Ganesh Ram Meena and advocate Anil Kumar Upman from Jaipur and Nupur Bhati from Jodhpur. Rajendra Prakash Soni, Ashok Kumar Jain, Yogendra Kumar Purohit, Bhuvan Goyal, Praveer Bhatnagar and Ashutosh Kumar have been made judges in the High Court from the judicial officer quota

The SC Collegium made the above recommendation on November 23, 2022. The name of Ganesh Ram Meena was recommended from the advocate quota in May, 2020.

As against the sanctioned strength of 50 posts in the HC, only 26 judges including the Chief Justice are working and 24 posts of judges are lying vacant. Now with the appointment of 9 new judges, the total number of judges including CJ will be 35.

The SC Collegium has also recommended the transfer of Madras HC Acting Chief Justice T Raja to Rajasthan HC.

DJ Ashok Kumar Jain was appointed Member Secretary in the National Legal Services Authority on 30 June 2020, since then he has been working on this post continuously
