What is the logic behind posting 3 IAS in Devasthan?

Jaipur: The importance of Devasthan Department, which is considered of negligible significance owing to its less budget, has suddenly increased. It is for the first time that four senior IAS officers have been posted in the department.

At the very top is ACS Aparna Arora, thereafter is Secretary Mahesh Sharma (who has been posted last week), below him is Special Secretary Shakti Singh and finally, 2010 batch IAS Pragya Kewalramani is Commissioner. When in May 2023, Shakti Singh was posted in the department, at that time bureaucracy was surprised as to why a 2010 batch IAS, who gave impeccable results in RFC, has been ‘dumped’ in such a small and insignificant department? Then Mahesh Sharma was recently ‘parked’ in Devasthan from LSG, which also came as a surprise since when ACS Aparna Arora is already in the department, then why does a small department need a Secretary?

Most of the work of the department is done at the head office in Udaipur, where a senior IAS is posted as full-time Commissioner. Since October 2022, Pragya has been handling this responsibility & thus, there is no practical need of posting three IAS in the department at Jaipur Secretariat.
