Vision 2030 reforms for Rajasthan Police on back burner

Jaipur: The ambitious “Vision 2030” plan of the Rajasthan Police, which was prepared during the tenure of former DGP M.L. Lather under the previous government, has been put on back burner. The Vision 2030 document proposed several critical reforms aimed at overhauling police force, but these recommendations have yet to be implemented.

One of the key proposals in the document was the restructuring of the Police Headquarters, including the creation of four Special DGP positions. These roles, including Special DGP for Crime and Special DGP for Law and Order, were designed to reduce the workload of the DGP. However, no significant efforts have been made at any level to move these plans forward. Even the basic recommendations of the Vision 2030 document remain unfulfilled.

Recognizing evolving nature of crime, the Vision 2030 plan suggested that the police be granted the authority to hire experts in law, finance, IT to tackle complex cases. Despite comprehensive and forward-looking nature of Vision 2030 document, its implementation remains stalled.
