VEENU GUPTA’S RERA INNINGS TO COINCIDE WITH CODE OF CONDUCT?

Jaipur: A week has passed since the appointment order of ACS Veenu Gupta, for the post of RERA Chairman, were issued. Recently, on October 3, Veenu Gupta applied for her VRS and the file is pending in the CMO for approval.

Knowledgeable sources reveal that for VRS, a notice period of three months is necessary, however the state government can give relaxation in Veenu Gupta’s case. It is a coincidence that the three month period ends in December when she will retire, however, highly placed sources have revealed that approval on VRS may come around the same time when the model code of conduct comes into force in the state. It is argued that since Veenu is currently handling the important departments like Industries and Commerce, MSME, Mines and Petroleum etc, the state government may want her to continue till the code of conduct as she has crucial works in her hands.

As such, if her VRS is approved prior to the code of conduct coming into force, the DoP will have to initiate a search for a senior IAS, which, in the current situation, will be difficult for the DoP.

Interestingly, Veenu Gupta’s husband - former Chief Secretary DB Gupta - who is currently serving as Chief Information Commissioner, has two more months to go before completing his current tenure on December 10.
