VAT on turbine fuel reduced, new flights soon
Jaipur: As per the budget announcement by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the VAT duty on aviation turbine fuel has been reduced from April 1. The VAT duty on turbine fuel has been brought down from 26 per cent to 2 per cent, which is likely to increase air connectivity from Jaipur.
Sources informed that nearly half-a-dozen new flights can be started from Jaipur airport to other cities. “Flight services to Bangkok and Dubai will be increased while a new flight to Kuala Lumpur can also be started. Commercial airlines will benefit from such a low VAT and airlines will be encouraged to start new flights to different cities from Jaipur,” said a source.
At present, an average of 57 flights are operating daily from Jaipur airport. The number of flights may go up to 70 in the next four months if aviation turbine fuel rates are reduced. There is a possibility that flight services will also be increased from Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Kishangarh airports of the State.
