U’pur tailor killed for SM post in support of Nupur Sharma; 2 held

Udaipur : A social media post in favour of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma allegedly cost tailor Kanhaiya Lal Sahu, 40, his life as two men slit his throat with a cleaver in Udaipur on Tuesday afternoon. The accused said in a video that they are avenging an insult to Islam and also cautioned PM Narendra Modi of facing dire consequences.
The incident triggered communal tension leading to the state government suspending the internet for 24 hours and imposing section 144 for 1 month across the state. At 8 pm, curfew was declared till further orders in seven police station areas of Udaipur city.
The police caught the two accused identified as Mohammad Ghaus and Mohammad Riyaz from Bhima in Rajsamand within six hours while they were escaping from Udaipur on a bike wearing helmets. Police had put 10 teams on alert mode, said DGP ML Lather. In the video clip, one of the assailants declared that they had beheaded the man and then threatened PM Modi and Nupur Sharma, saying their knife will get them as well.
