UDH to now focus on CM Jan Awas Yojana

Jaipur: The Chief Minister’s Jan Awas Yojana, aimed at providing affordable housing to the poor, is undergoing a transformation to ensure fair distribution.

The UDH department has issued an order to make certain changes in the lottery system to ensure that only local eligible people should be given the benefit of the scheme.

In this scheme, certain percentages of houses and plots are reserved for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Low Income Group (LIG) and a lottery system is used for allocation.

However, this process had become riddled with issues like middlemen exploiting the system, leaving the local poor in dire need of housing empty-handed.

To address this, the UDH Department took a decisive step and issued new guidelines to prioritize local applicants. Only residents and workers of the same district where the housing is available will be eligible to apply.
