Tourists make beeline for Rajasthan

Jaipur: Rajasthan’s major tourist attractions like Jaipur, Udaipur, and Mount Abu, are witnessing a huge rush of people owing to the Independence Day long weekend, officials said on Sunday. As August 15 will be celebrated on Tuesday, people have taken leave on Monday (August 14) for an extended four-day weekend. Tourists were seen everywhere in Jaipur on Sunday. Due to the heavy arrival of tourists, the Walled City witnessed heavy traffic jammed for hours. From Nahargarh Biological Park to Amber, Nahargarh, Jaigarh, Kanak Ghati, Jal Mahal, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, long jams were seen everywhere.

More than 40,000 tourists arrived in Jaipur city alone. In such a situation, the personnel of Traffic Police, Tourism and Archeology Dept, Home Guards and Tourist Assistance Force were seen trying hard to organize tourists and vehicles.

Archaeological Director Dr Mahendra Singh Khadgawat has also instructed the superintendents of all monuments to keep the arrangements in order due to the possible arrival of tourists for the next two days.

Amer Mahal Superintendent Pankaj Dharendra said that more than 11,000 tourists came to visit Amer Mahal on Sunday.
