The ‘unsolved’ highs and lows of Renu Jaipal’s career!

Jaipur: It is a tough task to ascertain as to when would the State Government gets miffed with an officer or when any officer would come in its good books. A similar interesting case has occurred with IAS Renu Jaipal. In the current government, this 2008 batch IAS has been transferred a whopping 10 times and Jaipal’s is perhaps the only example of its kind in the state’s bureaucracy. But now the government has become so ‘pro-Jaipal’ that it has gone ‘out of the way’ to provide ‘high chairs’ to the bureaucrat. The same chair on which at one point in time sat retired Chief Secretary, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary and Secretary. Jaipal is a junior officer of 2008 batch and is merely Special Secretary as of now, and yet the State Government has accorded her high chair and shocked the state’s bureaucracy.

Jaipal has, in the current government, served on posts like IG Stamp Registration, Secretary RPSC, Registrar Board of Revenue, Commission Ajmer Development Authority, Collector Pratapgarh, Collector Bundi, Commissioner Women Empowerment, Commissioner Panchayati Raj, MD Skill development Corporation, CMD Skill Development Corporation and Commissioner Skill and Employment. It is clear that due to some ‘issue’ with the government, Renu was transferred so many times, but the word is that now that ‘estrangement’ has ended. On August 27, she was appointed as MD of Skill Development Corporation and last week, she was given the major responsibility of Chairman of the Corporation. Skill Development is the government’s flagship scheme. There was a time, when Meetha Lal mehta was the Chairman of the Corporation and later sitting Chief Secretary were its Chairman. But now, a Special Secretary rank officer -Renu Jaipal - has been accorded the position. How she handles the works of this office remain to be seen, but no one can deny that with this posting, her stature in the bureaucracy has suddenly increased!
