Temples turn offerings into fertile compost
Jaipur: Offerings made to the gods in temples in Jaipur, including floral garlands, will no longer go waste. The flowers offered in various temples of the city will now be used to make compost, which will then be used to make crops more fertile. A compost machine worth around Rs 15 lakhs was inaugurated on Friday in the Greater Nagar Nigam.
The Smart Organic Waste Compost Machine has been installed at the main headquarters of the Greater Nagar Nigam. Mayor Dr Somya said that this automated compost machine uses advanced parameter controls as well as in-vessel aerobic composting technology.
This machine is capable of processing up to 500 kilograms of organic waste daily and converting it into nutrient-rich organic compost. Mahant Kailash Sharma of the Moti Doongri Ganesh Temple, says that this initiative will not only preserve religious traditions but also contribute to environmental conservation. He expressed full confidence in the assistance provided by the temple to the corporation’s initiative.
