Tarachand Meena’s political story was written in the previous govt!

Jaipur: The state government has approved the VRS of Tarachand Meena and it will come into effect from March 20. Meena had applied for VRS on January 12 and giving relaxation in the three month notice rule, the state government has approved the VRS. Tarachand was on APO from January 5 this year and it is believed that the Congress party is making the 2011 batch IAS Tarachand Meena its candidate from Udaipur Lok Sabha seat.

Meena was a blue-eyed officer of former CM Ashok Gehlot and he thoroughly ‘enjoyed’ for five years in the previous Congress government. In April 2021, he was given a rare jump and directly appointed as Chittorgarh Collector and eight months later he was given yet another jump and appointed as Collector of Udaipur district which is considered an important position owing to it being a divisional headquarters as well.

But this was not all. he was soon after appointed as TAD Commissioner in Udaipur an thereafter given the additional charge of Director, Mines and MDRSMM as well. This posting really surprised the state bureaucracy.

When in April 2023 the Gehlot government honoured Tarachand Meena with ‘CM Excellence Award’, the Congress leaders in Dungarpur organised a major program in his honour where the general public was amassed. Former minister Mahendrajet Singh Malviya and Arjun Bamniya had also reached this program of falicitation of a bureaucrat on a political platform and honoured the officer too.

Since then political observers were suspecting that Gehlot has set his mind to get Tarachand Meena into politics. And this suspicion proved right on Monday when Meena finally received his VRS and jumped into the political arena, even though there are still three months left in his retirement in June 2024.
