Successful Seizure of Opium and Apprehension of Suspects

Rajasthan (Jaipur): Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under the supervision of Zonal Director, Jodhpur & Jaipur, conducted a successful operation resulting in the interception of a Swift Car bearing Registration No. RJ39CA3792 at Bor Charnan Toll Plaza, Barmer-Sanchore Road, Dist. Barmer. The operation was carried out on the 4th of March 2024. During the operation, two individuals were apprehended:

i) Ram Prakash, 
S/o-Bhiyaram, 
resident of Doli Kalan, Dist. Barmer.

ii) Birbal, 
S/O- Purkharam, resident of Bawarla, Jodhpur.

The thorough search of the vehicle, conducted in the presence of independent witnesses, led to the discovery of 8.5 Kg ( Approx value -42.5 Lakhs) of Opium concealed within the chassis near both rear tires. Consequently, a crime case was registered under Sections 8, 18, 25 & 29 of the NDPS Act 1985, vide VIII(IO)02/NCB/JZU/2024 dated 04.03.2024, and the vehicle used in trafficking was seized.

The seized Opium, weighing 8.5 Kg, will be presented before the Jurisdictional Court in Barmer on the 5th of March 2024 for inventory and sampling purposes under Section 52A of the Act. Seizure proceedings are currently underway.
