Students, police clash at RU main gate, two detained

Jaipur: Students and the police clashed on Thursday over the issue of staging a dharna at the main gate of the Rajasthan University. Students have been demanding that students’ union elections should be held. Meanwhile, a student climbed the main gate of the university with a bottle of petrol. Police detained two students while students staged a protest.

For the last five days, the protest and hunger strike of the student leaders is on. On Thursday, the student leaders burnt the effigy at the main gate of Rajasthan University. All the other gates were closed by the police. During the demonstration, there was a clash after which the police used mild force on the students. Student leader, Abhishek Chaudhary, was detained while the student leader Komal Mohanpuria lied down at the gate demanding elections.

Despite the ongoing protest, not a single official of the university came to meet the students.
