‘Strict action against illegal mining’
Jaipur: Taking advantage of the model code of conduct, mining mafias have become active in Rajasthan. However, after receiving complaints, the mines department has intensified efforts to curb illegal mining.
Additional Chief Secretary Mines Veenu Gupta has given instructions to take strict action against illegal mining activities in the state. She said that illegal mining activities and any laxity in following mining safety standards will not be tolerated.
Gupta emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal mining and any violations of safety standards. She directed the field officers to actively enforce the Model Code of Conduct and take decisive actions, including seizing machinery to deter illegal mining, storage, and transportation.
Coordination with authorities was stressed. Gupta also highlighted importance of identifying sensitive areas of illegal mining. The directive extends to all additional directors, who are tasked with reinforcing their field officers.
Tarachand Meena, Director of Mines, emphasized the activation of departmental monitoring systems and the involvement of senior officers in HQ-level supervision.
