ST 2 cremated; forest minister seeks report

Jaipur/Alwar: Tigress ST 2 aka Rajmata was cremated on Thursday amidst a sad atmosphere. Forest and Environment Min Sanjay Sharma, Chief Wildlife Warden Arindam Tomar, Field Director Roopnarayan Meena and Forest Conservator Devendra Pratap Jagawat were present. Tigress ST 2, was 19 years of age and was ill since long, she took her last breath on Tuesday evening.

The Tigress ST 2 has played an important role in repopulating Sariska, which had become devoid of tigers, with the tigers. In 2008, she was the first tigress shifted from Ranthambore to Sariska. She gave birth to four cubs in two deliveries and from those four cubs 14 other tigers and tigresses were born. At present, there are 32 tigers in Sariska, out of which 19 are from ST 2 clan. This is the reason why the tigress was named Rajmata.

Earlier, Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma reached Sariska and took feedback from forest officials at the guest house regarding the arrangements of Sariska Tiger Reserve and took information about the work to be done in future.
