Sr Congress MLA Dayaram likely to be appointed Protem Speaker
Jaipur: Dayaram Parmar, the senior most MLA of the Congress Legislature Party, can be the protem speaker in the assembly. The list of the ten most senior MLAs who won in elections has been sent to Raj Bhavan from the Assembly Secretariat. Out of these ten names, Governor Kalraj Mishra will administer oath to one MLA as Protem Speaker. The Protem Speaker will continue to function until the permanent Speaker is selected. It’s main work is to administer oath to MLAs and elect the Speaker.
Kalicharan Saraf’s name is in the list sent to Raj Bhavan as the senior most MLA, but there has been a tradition of making the Protem Speaker from the opposition. The senior most MLA of the opposition is Dayaram Parmar. The names of Vasundhara Raje, Ashok Gehlot are also included in the list sent to the Governor. In this list, names of eight-time MLA Kalicharan Saraf, seven-time MLA Pratap Singh Singhvi, six-time MLA Kirodilal Meena, Pushpendra Singh Bali and Madan Dilawar have been included. The names of seven-time MLA Dayaram Parmar, six-time MLA Rajendra Pareek and Shravan Kumar from the Congress Legislature Party have been included in the list. Gehlot and Raje are also six-time MLAs.
