SMS to undergo transformation with the new Neuro-Optho Tower

Jaipur: The face of 90 years old SMS Hospital will soon change. After the country’s tallest medical building IPD Tower and Cardiology Tower, now preparations have started for Neuro-Optho Tower in the hospital premises. It is proposed to be built at a cost of about Rs 300 crore. Along with this tower, a Girls Hostel for Nursing department will also be constructed.

The proposal has been prepared under the direction of SMS Medical College Principal Dr Rajeev Bagrahatta and SMS Hospital Superintendent Dr Achal Sharma and sent to the Medical Education Department. The condition of the biggest hospital of the state is such that as soon as it rains, many wards get submerged and in most places the roofs start leaking. Crores of rupees are being spent on maintenance for the last several years, but the problem remains the same.

For the permanent solution, the hospital will be converted into skyscraper towers in a phased manner. Nursing girls hostel located in SMS campus has been marked for the new tower. Parking for vehicles will be made three storey in basement of the tower.
