SIT to thoroughly probe the incident: CM

Udaipur: CM Ashok Gehlot on late Tuesday formed an SIT including SOG ADG Ashok Rathore, ATS IG Praful Kumar, one SP and an ASP to investigate the Udaipur murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal Sahu, 40, his by two men who also posted video of the incident.

The Opposition BJP claimed that the accused seen in the viral video had threatened Sahu on June 17, who had asked for security but it was not given by the police. Sahu was recently arrested by the local police over some remarks made on social media by him in favour of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

The assailants entered his shop in Udaipur’s Dhan Mandi area posing as customers. As he took the measurements, Riyaz attacked him with a cleaver. Shopkeepers in local markets downed shutters and Hindu fronts held a rally and stopped police from taking away the body. They demanded arrest of the accused, Rs 50 lakh compensation and a govt job to the victim’s family.
