Sikar suicide: Lawyers meet Guv with welfare demands

Jaipur: For the implementation of Advocate Protection Act, transfer of jurisdiction of revenue courts to judiciary, appointment of judicial officers and demand for judicial investigation of advocate Hansraj Mavaliya selfimmolation case by CBI or other independent agency, a delegation of advocates under the leadership of Praveen Khandelwal, state convener of BJP Legal Cell, met Governor Kalraj Mishra on Monday.

Khandelwal said that they also demanded implementation of a group insurance scheme by the govt through the Bar Council of Rajasthan to make the advocates and their families financially secure. Financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the family of advocate and a judicial inquiry into the self-immolation or investigation by CBI. They also demanded to arrange stipend for advocates with protection of up to 5 years.
