Sanitation staff announce strike across Rajasthan; JMCG mayor calls meeting

Jaipur: The sanitation workers of Valmiki Samaj across the state have announced to go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday against the release of notification for recruitment of sweepers with reservation for different classes.

They are demanding that candidates from Valmiki community should be given priority and there should be no reservation for other communities in the reservation. This decision to go on strike was taken by the people of Valmiki Samaj at JMC Greater’s Headquarters today. It was unanimously decided in meeting that recruitment on the pattern of 2018 would not be allowed.

Meanwhile, JMCG Mayor Dr Somya on Monday called an emergency meeting over the issue of strike by the sanitation staff. The Chairmen of the three sanitation committees were present in the meeting. Mayor issued directions regarding cleanliness in the city in wake of the strike. She asked for the help of common people also if needed. She also appealed to the councillors to do social work for cleanliness for 2 hours.
