Sangh opposed Emergency from time to time: RSS

Jaipur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) condemned the Emergency period as a dark chapter in India’s history, emphasizing the importance of democratic principles. The RSS, which actively opposed the Emergency, highlighted its dedication to upholding democracy during a recent prant pracharaks’ meeting in Ranchi.

Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar addressed the media, focusing on population imbalance—a concern previously raised by the Sarsanghchalak. Ambekar affirmed the RSS’s commitment to responsibly addressing this societal issue.

Regarding the Lok Sabha election results, Ambekar clarified that the RSS is not directly involved in electoral activities. Instead, the organization refines public opinion and raises awareness through small conferences. He stressed the supremacy of the people in a democracy and urged respect for public decisions as expressed through elections.

Ambekar condemned forced conversions, emphasizing their illegality and the importance of respecting individual rights and legal processes. Highlighting the Sangh’s activities, Ambekar noted that one lakh individuals received training through ‘Prathmik Shiksha Varg’ last year. The RSS is now organizing ‘Prarambhik Varg’—three-day sessions for general volunteers—drawing twice the participation compared to previous programs.

A coordination meeting involving various RSS-affiliated organizations will take place from August 31 to September 2 in Palakkad, Kerala, aiming to foster mutual discussions and coordination.

Looking forward to Vijayadashami 2025, which marks 100 years of RSS’s work, Ambekar outlined goals to establish daily shakhas in all rural mandals and urban settlements across India.
