RUCKUS@RU AS JORWAL DENIED TICKET

Jaipur: NSUI has declared its candidates for Rajasthan University while the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has not declared its candidate yet. Ritu Barala is the NSUI candidate. Niharika Jorwal, daughter of Minister of State for Tourism and Agriculture Marketing, Murari Lal Meena, has announced to contest as an independent. Jorwal was also actively working for NSUI for the last four years. Talking to the media, she alleged casteism in distribution of tickets. She said, “Ticket distributors say that there is no SC/ST vote. Now we will show how many votes we have by contesting as an independent. Racism is spread. Since it is a Jat dominated area, tribal women cannot get tickets,” she said, accusing NSUI State President Abhishek Chaudhary of casteism.

Chaudhary said that tickets have been given on the basis of the demand of the students. “I have faith that students will help Barala win with huge votes. On Niharika contesting as an independent, Abhishek said that Niharika is our sister and a member of the NSUI family. I hope that she will not contest as an independent,” he said. Barala said that working for women’s safety in Rajasthan University is her priority. “Besides deploying female guards on the university campus, two female nurses will also be there. My priority will be to conduct campus placements,” she said. Barala has been an active worker of NSUI for the last five years. ABVP has given ticket to Narendra Yadav for President. Recently, he climbed the overhead water tank demanding 100% admission in RU. He had threatened to self immolate if the demand wasn’t met. Meanwhile, Mahesh Choudhary, Mahendra Degra, Sanjay Choudhary, Niharika Jorwal and Rajendra Gora anguished by not getting tickets, sat on a ‘Dharna’ outside the main gate of the Rajasthan University. Niharika’s supporters raised slogans against Chaudhary. Police tried to disperse the students, but they did not move. During the dharna, Jorwal came with more than 150 supporters, who sought votes in her favour.
