RTE violations: Edu dept to go tough on 24 schools

Jaipur: The Education Department is planning to take a stern step against schools on not giving admission under RTI by cancelling their recognition.

Jaipur’s district education officer has sent a proposal to the department for cancelling recognition of 24 private schools in the district.

The move follows the education department’s proposal to cancel recognition for these schools that failed to adhere to official regulations concerning the admission of underprivileged children under RTI.

The scheme mandated that 25 percent of seats be reserved for needy children but Jaipur’s 24 private schools violated this. This cancellation of recognition comes after repeated reminders and warning letters were sent to the schools, to which they failed to respond.
