RS nominations from today, prep for ‘badabandi’ in full swing in Raj

Jaipur: Nominations for Rajya Sabha Election 2022 will start with issuance of notification today as elections for 4 seats falling vacant in RS are to be completed by July 4.

Elections on four seats of RS will be held on June 10 as tenure of Om Mathur, KJ Alphons, Ramkumar Verma and Harshvardhan Singh is going to end.

Two seats of Cong and one seat of BJP are confirmed, but if election is held on fourth seat, contest will be interesting.

Congress has 108 MLAs and it enjoys support of 13 independents, 1 RLD, 2 BTP and CPI (M) each, which takes the number to 126. BJP has 71 MLAs and also has support of 3 RLP MLAs, which takes total votes on BJP side to 74.

Congress is likely to shift its MLAs to Hotel Taj Aravali in Udaipur ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.
