Rs 800 cr scheme to treat faecal sludge from houses

Jaipur: The state government has prepared a scheme of about Rs 793 crore to disposed of the sludge coming out of the houses in a scientific way. The scheme will be implemented for more than 97 cities of the state.

The LSG department has made full preparations for this to improve the environment of cities. At present there is no system for disposal of sludge in these cities and sludge is being thrown in the open in empty land, river, ponds, and drains leading to pollution, increasing the contamination ofground water and soil.

Under the chairmanship UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal, a meeting of the officers of the LSG department was held recently and it was decided that the Directorate of Local Bodies would be the nodal agency for setting up fecal sludge treatment plants in all these cities.
