Rs 350 cr for free school uniforms

Jaipur: Following instructions from CM Ashok Gehlot, the Education Department will provide uniforms to students to government schools for free now. In the last session, the government had collected information about all bank accounts to provide uniforms. On Wednesday, the department got all the information and soon children will get new uniforms.

The tender process for this has been completed and children will get new uniforms by September. The state government has allocated Rs 350 crore for this. Uniform distribution will be done to the children in 302 blocks of the state. The government will distribute uniforms to all the students from Class I to VIII. The contract for this has been given to a textile firm in Bhilwara. Children will also be given a bag along with their uniforms. The bags will have the CM’s picture on it. Each child will get two uniforms. There are 70 lakh 77,465 children from Class I to VIII in 64,479 government schools in the state. Out of this, 34 lakh 81,646 are boys, 35 lakh 95,819 are girls.
