Royal train gears up for destination weddings

Jaipur: The most beautiful and luxurious train, Palace on Wheels, would soon be available for destination weddings for which necessary planning and upgrades are being made.

Anupama Jorwal, Managing Director of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, said that along with the upgradation in the royal train, a lot of planning has also been done regarding destination weddings, which will be executed with mutual consent after the code of conduct is lifted.

The train, which is operated by O&M operator, is currently undergoing annual maintenance at Ajmer workshop. After returning from there, work will start in Jaipur regarding the upgradation of both its restaurants as well as destination weddings. According to the terms of the contract, RTDC has put certain conditions before the O&M operator. It is expected that things will be ready before the start of the season in September.

Resuming the operations of the train after the break in corona pandemic had become a challenge. For the first time in 42 years, it was decided to run the train in private participation and Cube Construction in consortium with Easy Toll Solutions ltd was given 5-year rights to operate the Train as O&M operator.

In the last season, the train was operated by the O&M partner on 22 out of 34 trips, in which around 790 tourists traveled. The train has received more than 500 advance bookings for the next season also. Although the O&M operator also increased the tariff twice during the season, in many cases adverse comments were also seen by travel bloggers and on some social media sites regarding the services and operations of the royal train.
