Roll back Agnipath in time: CM to Centre

Jaipur: The Congress on Sunday, held a protest in Jaipur against the Centre’s Agnipath scheme and demanded its withdrawal in the ‘interest’ of the youth and the country. CM Ashok Gehlot alleged the government introduced the scheme in a hurry, which created resentment among the youth and the general public.

“The PM should understand youth sentiments and withdraw the scheme within time. The decision was taken in a hurry. It is being opposed across the country. I believe that the government should take a quick decision and take it back,” Gehlot told reporters at the Amar Jawan Jyoti where the party leaders gathered for the protest amid slight showers.

PCC Chief Govind Singh Dotasra said the decision of starting contractual recruitment of soldiers is “anti-national, anti-people and against the security of the country”. “The Modi government is against people. Earlier, the PM deceived farmers, then traders and now the youth. They want to fill RSS people in the Army,” he said, adding, “Modi became the PM with youth & farmers’s vote, but he troubled them. The rally which started from Amar Jawan Jyoti concluded at PCC.

Various Congress leaders including Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, Dr BD Kalla, Mamta Bhupesh, Udailal Anjana, Mahesh Joshi, Rafeek Khan, Amin Kagzi, Krishna Poonia, Dharmendra Rathore, Munesh Gurjar and other leaders participated in the rally.
