Resident docs on strike, seniors take charge

Jaipur: After a symbolic protest with black bands for two days, resident doctors at SMS Medical College decided to boycott work in all hospitals, including SMS from 9 am to 11 am from Tuesday. However, keeping in mind the problems of the patients, emergency and ICU (Intensive Care Unit) services would be functional. The decision came after the Jaipur Association of Residents Doctors (JARD) held a meeting. They are protesting against the discrepancy in the bond policy made for the residents in the state, appointment of residents against posts against qualification, including implementation of the earlier agreements with the residents in letter and spirit. After the boycott by resident doctors, senior doctors took charge. Senior doctors handling the OPDs to lessen inconvenience faced by the patients.
