Refund scam and phishing risks on rise: IT dept alerts taxpayers

Jaipur: Taxpayers are being defrauded with false promises of income tax refunds. Fraudsters are sending online phishing links to clean out taxpayer accounts. The Income Tax Department has issued an alert, warning taxpayers not to click on unknown links. The department clarified that there is an ongoing ITR refund scam and asked people to be cautious.

The IT Dept does not contact taxpayers directly via phone or messages and does not ask for PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, or OTPs. Report such cases on helpline numbers at 18001030025 or 18004190025.
