Record Rs 10,000 cr for Raj Railways in Union Budget: Min

Jaipur: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a video conference discussing the budget provisions for Indian Railways on 23rd July 2024, highlighted a significant shift in the railway development strategy under the Prime Minister’s leadership over the last decade. He emphasised increased investment in safety, infrastructure expansion, modernisation, and passenger amenities.

Regarding Rajasthan, Vaishnaw underscored its strategic importance and historical underfunding in railways, noting that the state received an average annual budget of only Rs 682 crore until 2014. The budget allocation for 2024-25 has now been raised to Rs 10,000 crore, the highest to date.

He mentioned that railway projects worth Rs 51,814 crore are currently underway in Rajasthan, and 85 railway stations are being upgraded to Amrit stations.

Additionally, about 1,475 flyovers and underpasses have been constructed on railway tracks in the state over the past decade.
