‘Rebel’ MLAs start withdrawing resignations

Jaipur: The process of withdrawing the resignations submitted by the MLAs on September 25 has started. The 90 MLAs, who had given their resignations on 25 September after a Legislative meeting at the residence of parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal, are now writing a one line letter to Speaker Dr CP Joshi saying, “I am voluntarily withdrawing my resignation.” The MLAs, who were miffed at reports of replacement of Chief Minister, are now writing a letter following the instructions of Chief Whip Mahesh Joshi. Meanwhile, Deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore said that those behind the episode of resignation by Congress MLAs were not in a position to face the court therefore a plan to withdraw the resignations has been executed. He said that the MLAs had handed over the resignation letter to the Speaker and it was not necessary to make any inquiry. He said that it was not possible that 91 MLAs were forced to resign. Rathore said that as per the assembly procedure rule 173, the resignations were needed to be accepted with immediate effect but it was delayed.
