Jaipur: Several important policy decisions were taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday through video conference from the CMR.

The Cabinet has given its approval for amendment in the Rajasthan Rural Development State Service Rules-2007.

At present, there is a provision to fill 75% of the posts of junior pay series of Rajasthan Rural Development State Service by direct recruitment, which will be modified by this decision and ratio of direct recruitment and promotion can be made 50-50.

With this, 50% posts of junior pay series of Rajasthan Rural Development State Service will be filled through promotion of additional development officers.

With this Cabinet decision, more number of posts will be available for the promotion of Assistant and Additional Development Officers and the vacant posts of Development Officers in the department can be filled quickly by promotion.

Also, the problem of vacancies of Development Officers will be solved. Promotion of Additional Development Officers to the post of Development Officer will also increase the morale and efficiency of Village Development Officers.

The Cabinet also approved amendments to Miscellaneous Service Rules to remove the provision of being placed on probation for one year on promotion of direct recruits.

With this, despite removal of provision of being placed on probation for a period of one year if appointed by promotion in notification issued by the Personnel Department, this provision, which remained unchanged in the Miscellaneous Service Rules, will be abolished. This will bring uniformity in all service rules.
