Jaipur: The historic Ramgarh Dam here will be filled with water of the Isarda Dam under the East Rajasthan Canal project, CM Ashok Gehlot said on Tuesday. Gehlot also said that 53 dams of Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Bharatpur and Alwar districts will be connected with the project to provide water.

The Ramgarh Dam, which quenched the thirst of Jaipur for four decades, is completely dry since 2005.
In 1982, the sailing competition was held in the Asian Games in the dam and since then the dam dried up due to continuous encroachment in the catchment area. Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh of Jaipur started building a dam in 1897 on this lake spread over 15.5 square kilometers.
