Rajasthan HC orders Asssembly Secy to submit fresh affidavit

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has expressed displeasure over the delay in taking a decision on the resignations of 91 Congress MLAs. The High Court has ordered the Assembly Secretary to present a fresh affidavit in the matter. A division bench of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Shubha Mehta gave the order on Friday. Advocate Mahendra Singh appeared on behalf of the Vidhan Sabha. A hearing was held in the High Court on Friday on the petition of BJP leader Rajendra Singh Rathore. Now, the matter will be heard on January 30. Rathore himself advocated in this matter. In this matter, the High Court had earlier issued notices to the Assembly Secretary & others & directed them to submit their reply within 3 weeks. The bench observed that the MLAs had submitted their resignations on Sept 25 and the Speaker decided on them on Jan 13. “It is not right to delay so much. It is natural to take reasonable time but three months is too much,” the bench observed.
