Raj tourism unit policy set to boost the sector
Jaipur: The state’s new Tourism Unit Policy will be launched by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on December 4. The provisions of the new policy are designed not only to ensure investment but also to provide various concessions to stakeholders in this sector, enabling them to expand their units.
The Tourism Department has developed a new Tourism Unit Policy under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, . This Tourism Unit Policy 2024 has several unique features. The policy includes 24 types of tourism units, whereas in 2015, there were only 16 types. Provisions have been made for up to 5% land allocation for tourism facilities in master plans, zonal plans, industrial areas (RIICO), and private industrial areas. The allocation of government land has been linked to investment. Benefits related to stamp duty and land conversion charges are aligned with the provisions of the effective RIPS-2024.
Full exemption has been provided from development charges and land use charges. Electricity fees, urban development tax, and building plan approvals for tourism units will be charged at industrial rates.
Trade licenses for the operation of tourism units will be issued for 10 years at a time, and fire NOCs for three years at a time. Additionally, hotels and restaurants will be eligible for double the BAR (i.e., 4 BAR) without the betterment levy.
Heritage hotels/heritage restaurants will be permitted to operate if they have a dedicated parking arrangement on roads of the prescribed width. According to the excise policy, heritage hotels/heritage restaurants will be given bar licenses at concessional rates, while general restaurants will be provided composite bar licenses in accordance with the excise policy.
Registered tourist luxury coaches with a capacity of 22 seats or more in the state will be fully exempt from motor vehicle tax. Hotels and tourism units located within compound walls will be allowed to operate without the minimum road width requirement.
