Raj Tourism Dept to organize Hawa Mahal Festival on Jan 15
Jaipur: The Hawa Mahal festival will be organized by the Tourism Department on the 15th of January, 2023. On this day, the lattice windows of Hawa Mahal will witness the cultural heritage festival organized to save the monuments rich cultural and historical importance.
The main objective of this festival is to inspire the people of Jaipur, including both domestic and foreign tourists, to create awareness about heritage and its preservation. Folk songs, music, food catering and various means of entertainment will be made available during the Hawa Mahal festival. The special attraction of ‘Night Tourism’ will be seen in action through this festival which runs from 8:30 pm to 12:00 pm.
The area from Badi Chaupar to Jaleb Chowk and Khwasji way will be drenched in colorful lights. It is noteworthy that the area known as Hawa Mahal Bazar, Jaipur's most scenic tourist place the Hawa Mahal is also present along with the Sawai Mansingh Town Hall (Old Assembly), Ramprakash Cinema, Ayodhya Pol (Jaleb Chowk entrance) temples while the havelis of the area gives this market of Jaipur the status of ‘Heritage Walk Way Corridor’.
Outline of Hawamahal Festival: The program will be held from 8:30 pm to 12:00 midnight. The main event will be held in front of the ‘Hawamahal’ from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm. Other focused programs will also be organized From Badi Chaupar to Jaleb Chowk, mainly around the vacant places around the shops in the area. During the festival, tourists will have trhe opportunity to shop for Jaipuri Razai (Quilts), Jaipuri Mojaris (Shoes & Slippers), traditional Rajasthani Lehenga-Choli, Bandhej Clothes (Dress Material, Lehenga, Sarees, Bottom Wear, Duppatas & Kurtis, etc.), Jaipuri Safa (Men’s Turban, Pagri), etc. Cultural performances will also be organized with local artists for the tourist and visitors in that area. Arrangement for traditional Rajasthani and Jaipuri cuisines and snacks will also be made available for the tourist and visitors so that they are able to taste the famous Jaipur's Kadhai milk and Chari. Tea and milk sellers will also be present on cycles at the area for milk and tea lovers. During the entire time period of the programme vehicular movement will be closed, so that the tourist and visitors can be enjoy the festival on foot.
Center of Attraction: Pushkar's Nagada band, Kathak performances on live music, Pabusar's thali dance and drumming, journey of artists dancing to Chang's beats, presentation of Jaipur brass band at Badi Chaupar, band playing at Sawai Mansingh Town Hall, Phad Paintings with Bhopa - Tales of Bhopi impersonators, Langa Artist's songs, magic show, puppet show, clay artist's performance, fire painting artist, seller of spinners, flute and ravanahatha, parrot pandit, tarot card reader, balloon shooting, live sketch artist, merry go round many entertainments activities will be the center of attraction.
Go to your Air Palace: Hawa Mahal was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 AD and was designed by architect Lal Chand Usta. Its unique five-storied building has 953 very beautiful and attractive small lattice windows, which are called ‘Jharokhas’. The cool air always comes inside the palace through these lattice windows, due to which the palace always remains air-conditioned even in the peak hot summer. Built with lime, red and pink sandstone, this palace is situated on the main road and in the heart of the business center of Jaipur. It is part of the City Palace itself and extends to the Zenana Room or the Women's Room.
