Raj readies to identify bogus firms, says Chief Commissioner CGST

Jaipur: In an exclusive conversation with First India, Chief Commissioner CGST Mahendra Ranga shared information about preparations going on in Rajasthan to identify bogus firms. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes started a nationwide campaign from August 16. Intensive data analysis being done in the state to prevent GST leakage. A total of 198 bogus firms were identified in the campaign last year. Last year, fraud worth Rs 284 crore was detected through bogus firms.

This year, the CGST department has identified 307 bogus firms. Input tax credit fraud of Rs 217 crore was detected in these firms and action for recovery of the amount is being taken against those involved in the fraud. Rajasthan is far ahead of the national average of 10.3% in GST collection. CGST collected Rs 8455 crore GST in the state. The state recorded growth in GST collection and 16% more collection in CGST.
