Raj govt issues LoI for uranium mining in Sikar

Jaipur: Rajasthan has entered the field of uranium mining with the issuance of an LoI for uranium mining, a rare mineral in the state. Additional Chief Secretary Mines, Petroleum Dr Subodh Agrawal informed that the State Government has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) of mining lease to Uranium Corporation of India for mining of uranium ore at Rohil in Khandela tehsil near Sikar. After Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh, huge deposits of uranium have been found in Rajasthan. Uranium is considered one of the rarest minerals in the world. Uranium is a valuable mineral for nuclear power. With the progress in the uranium mining sector, the state has uplifted itself on the world stage alongside opened doors for new opportunities for investment, revenue and employment, he added. Mines and Agriculture Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya expressed happiness over the release of the LOI for the exploration of uranium ore. About 3000 people will get direct and indirect employment.
